Why Choose Our Practice?

A smiling family
When it comes to picking an oral surgeon, we know that you have options. Personalized, gentle, comprehensive patient care is our number one priority.

Here are just a few things that make our practice unique:

Highly Trained Staff

Our staff are trained beyond the required dental and surgical assisting standards. To be a dental assistant in Florida, you can ‘on the job train’ with a practice willing to educate the assistant, or you can attend an accredited school for a one year dental assisting program to become a Certified Dental Assistant.

At our practice, we employ two Dental Hygienists, which require an AS degree from an accredited college, and one Certified Surgical Tech, which also requires an AS degree  from an accredited college and surgical training in a hospital setting. We also have nurse in every surgery starting the IV, monitoring vitals and administering sedation drugs. Having a nurse present is not required for oral surgery, but is an extra precaution we take for the safety of our patients.

All of our clinical staff at Tallahassee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified.

In oral surgery, a BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required, but we take that a step further! This course is a two day medical training course that highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Most hospitals and emergency personnel are ACLS certified to prepare for life threatening emergencies.

This course equips our staff to:

  • Perform prompt, high-quality BLS, including prioritizing early chest compressions and integrating early automated external defibrillator (AED) use
  • Recognize and perform early management of respiratory arrest
  • Discuss early recognition and management of ACS and stroke, including appropriate disposition
  • Recognize and perform early management of bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  • Recognize and perform early management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post–cardiac arrest care
