Dr.Ortiz joined the TMH (Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare) Facial Trauma Team where he functions as the senior surgeon for the most complex cases. Dr. Ortiz practices a full spectrum Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (TMJ Surgery, Dental Implants, Pathology, Dentoalveolar Surgery, Sleep Apnea, Corrective Jaw Surgery) in private practice.      Dr. Ortiz is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Ricardo Ortiz graduated from Dental School (DMD) and then attended Harvard Medical School completing a Medical Degree (MD). He continued his Medical and Dental education at Harvard / Massachusetts General Hospital completing a Maxillofacial Surgery Residency and two years of General Surgery. He also trained at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Department of Plastic and Oral Surgery where he assisted in the care of patients with craniofacial anomalies.
Upon graduation, he became a Faculty Surgeon at the Navy Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program in San Diego California until his retirement from the NAVY in February 2018. 

Retired Military

Dr. Ortiz was born in Puerto Rico and completed his undergraduate and ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps US ARMY) at the University of Puerto Rico. He commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Army and served in an Infantry Battalion of the First Cavalry Division Combat team at Fort Hood Texas. He served a combat tour in Iraq with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team/Infantry First Cavalry. His exposure to Facial Trauma in Iraq motivated him to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Dr. Ortiz returned from Iraq in 2005 and joined the US NAVY.

Dr. Ortiz se unió al departamento de Trauma Facial del Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare donde maneja los casos de reconstrucción facial más complejos. Dr. Ortiz practica todas las áreas de Cirugía Oral y Maxilofacial (TMJ, Extracciones de dientes, Implantes Dentales, Patología, Apnea del Sueño, muelas del juicio y Cirugía Ortognática) en su práctica privada. Dr. Ortiz está certificado por el American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Educacion en Harvard

Dr. Ricardo Ortiz se graduó de odontología con el grado de Doctor en Medicina Dental (DMD) y luego continuó estudios en medicina en la prestigiosa escuela de Medicina de HARVARD obteniendo así el grado de Doctor en Medicina (MD). Continuó su educación en Medicina y Dental completando una residencia de Cirugía Oral y Maxilofacial en Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital y dos años de Cirugía General. Al graduarse de Harvard Dr. Ortiz se convirtió en Profesor en el Programa de Cirugía Maxilofacial del Navy en San Diego California hasta su retiro de las fuerzas armadas en febrero 2018.

Retirado del Ejercito/NAVY

Dr. Ortiz nació en Puerto Rico y completó su bachillerato y entrenamiento del ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps ) del US ARMY en la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Se comisionó como Teniente en el US ARMY y sirvió en un Batallón de Infantería de la First Cavalry Division de Fort Hood Texas completando un año en combate en Iraq. Su exposición a trauma facial en Iraq lo motivó a convertirse en Cirujano Maxilofacial. Dr. Ortiz retornó de Iraq en 2005 y comenzó su educación en la Escuela de Medicina Dental en Puerto Rico y se unió al US NAVY.
